NICKI MINAJ TO PERFORM AT THE VMA

MTV today announced that Grammy® Award-nominated superstar Nicki Minaj will take the 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” stage for what is sure to be one of the night's most talked-about performances.  The multi-platinum hip-hop titan will perform her alluring and pounding new hit single “Anaconda” for the first time, from her highly anticipated album The PinkPrint, due out later this year.

“The VMAs is a pretty big deal so people go all out for it,” said Nicki Minaj. “I am very, very excited and looking forward to the performance.”

Nicki Minaj is no stranger to the VMA stage, with past performances on the 2010 “MTV Video Music Awards” pre-show performing her first number one single, "Your Love", and in 2012, she joined Alicia Keys on the main stage for a fiery performance of “Girl on Fire".  Additionally, Minaj earned a VMA Moonman trophy in 2011 for “Best Hip-Hop Video” for “Super Bass” and in 2012 for “Best Female Video” with “Starships".

Her debut studio album, Pink Friday, achieved record-breaking numbers in 2010, by becoming certified Platinum only a month after its release due to the Top 40 hits, "Your Love", "Moment 4 Life" feat. Drake, "Check it Out", "Right Thru Me", and "Super Bass" which was RIAA-certified 8x Platinum. Nicki Minaj debuted at the top of the charts once again with her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded behind the hit singles of "Beez In The Trap" feat. 2 Chainz, "Pound The Alarm", "Va Va Voom", and the RIAA-certified 4x Platinum and Top 5 single, "Starships".

The album became one of the best selling albums of 2012 according to Nielsen Soundscan. At the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, Minaj led all rap artists with seven nominations and scored three wins including "Top Rap Artist", "Top Rap Album", and "Top Streaming Artist".  In addition, Nicki has won four American Music Awards, an MTV EMA and two additional Bi
llboard Music Awards.
Nicki Minaj is currently the most charted female rapper in the history of music including the most digital sales for a female emcee, and ranks in the Top 6 of all female artists with the most Hot 100 Billboard entries (51) due to recent hits like "Love More" with Chris Brown, "Bang, Bang" with Jessie J and Ariana Grande and her own critically acclaimed first single from The PinkPrint, "Pills N Potions".

Nicki Minaj joins previously announced performers BeyoncĂ©, Usher, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5 and 5 Seconds of Summer at the 2014 VMAs for what promises to be an electrifying live event and TV experience. Nominees for a new socially voted category, “Best Lyric Video” will be announced at a later date on vma.mtv.com.
