Adding to the rapidly growing list of not-to-be-missed live musical performances, MTV (DStv Channel 130) today announced that superstar rock band, Maroon 5, will perform during the 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” (VMA) at The Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday 24 August. Maroon 5 joins previously announced performers Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer.
The 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” is presented by MTV in association with Sprite
and powered by MTN. The show premieres live on MTV on Monday 25 August at 03:00 CAT, with the primetime premiere on Monday 25 August at 21:00 CAT (red carpet show premieres at 20:00 CAT).
"We are so excited about our upcoming new album and to be part of the great VMA lineup this year. It is our first time doing the show and we are thrilled to be on it performing our new single," said Adam Levine.
Surrounded by thousands of fans, Maroon 5 will thrill viewers from a special VMA stage, presented by the Kia Soul, with a live rendition of a single off their upcoming fifth studio album, V. On 2 September 2014, Interscope Records will release V – the new album by Maroon 5. True to its title, V represents the fifth full-length studio effort from the Grammy Award winning superstar band. Considering that career benchmark, Maroon 5’s latest provides a sonic summation of the group’s journey to date – capturing the essence of the earliest M5 hits through to their most recent successes, as well as providing a picture of its artistic growth into the future.
Capturing their first of three Grammy Awards as “Best New Artist” of 2005 and going on to sell more than 17 million albums worldwide, Maroon 5’s releases have gone gold and platinum in over 35 countries. The band won over fans and critics alike with the hybrid rock/R&B sound they introduced on their debut album, "Songs About Jane" and their double platinum album, "It Won't be Soon Before Long", which included hits like "Makes Me Wonder" and "If I Never See Your Face Again". In 2010, the band released their third studio album, "Hands All Over", which featured the group's anthemic chart-topping smash single “Moves Like Jagger”. The song has since gone on to become one of the best-selling singles of all time. Maroon 5’s most recent album "Overexposed" quickly reinforced the group’s status as a powerhouse in popular music with all of its singles rising to the top of the charts and setting an all-time record for the most #1s (six in total) by a group in the Top 40 chart’s 20-year history. In conjunction with the album, Maroon 5 wrapped one of the highest grossing tours of 2013 with over 50 million dollars in ticket sales.
